These kinds of videos bore me, because they always devolve into post-modern posturing and apologia by so-called historians and history buffs. Ah, the pay gap... "hours worked per week, and willingness to work on holidays." Who takes care of your kids and old parents, then? Unless we are in the USSR, there is no affordable childcare round the clock.
Men, as a rule, assume that they simply go to work and their spouses, mothers or in-laws solve the problem of childcare / senior care. I was asked many times how I balance my full time job and kids. My husband never faced such a question, surprise, surprise. It is my problem only, it seems.
And then you wonder why the kids are given to mothers in case of a divorce, often without a second thought? It is the same assumption: women do childcare, men make money. The freedom to earn turns against men in this case.
If childcare were split equally, the problem would be reduced. The pay gap too.
